Taking the Leadership Class to Jail - Ann P

Subaru of Daytona is part of the Port Orange South Daytona Chamber of Commerce. Ann Pintiliano, our Public Relations Manager went through the POSD Chamber Leadership program several years ago. Ann is part of the steering committee that sets the new programs each year, and this year Ann, selected Criminal Justice Day. On Oct 26, 2022, she took the class to jail!!! LOL, they went out to the Volusia County Jail, toured the jail, and had a chance to watch first appearances. This process was very eye-opening to many of them. They learned about the process from being booked into jail, to going to the first appearances. Then, they went on to the Emergency Operation Center/ 911 Call Center, where the class toured the building where they just had been in action for Hurricane Ian. They learned the process of how all the agencies came together for the storm to keep us all safe. The leadership class then moved on to the 911 Call center and learned how they come in and are handled and the agency that needs to be dispatched out. Next, the leadership class moved on to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Training Center. Ann learned to her surprise that Subaru of Daytona was one of the major sponsors to help build and operate this new center. They got to see and hear how the cadets are trained and schooled in the operations of becoming a police officer. This included a 300-degree stimulator which the cadets can go through different senses to learn how to handle situations. This is a major part of showing the Leadership Class how different agencies work in our county.

Lending a Helping Hand - Ernie C

Our Heart moment! It was for Pre SubieFest and SubieFest when on the way down to Daytona Beach from Knoxville, TN, Ernie Clautier was hit with tire debris off the highway that smashed the front lip of his car. Ernie had planed on entering his 2018 50th anniversary STI car in the events at SubieFest, So he put out a call on Facebook for help where parts where for his car. We got his 2018 50th anniversary STI car into our shop, Orange Park had a lip that needed to be replaced and couple of our techs removed and replaced it. There were a few other issues that were fixed and we got Ernie and his 2018 STI 50th Anniversary addition ready for the Subie Fest car show! Mike and Matt did the work, we had to charge him $120 to put it in the shop. It was our pleasure to get Ernie back on the road and ready for the event!

Mini-Cooper Found at Subaru - Barry K

Mini-Cooper is not a used car available on the Subaru of Daytona lot. He is a 1-year old Cockalier (part Cocker Spaniel, part Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.) We really weren't looking for a dog, especially not a puppy. We have always adopted larger, older dogs from animal shelters. We already had two rescue dogs from Halifax Humane Society, Bentley, our 8-year old Golden Retriever, and Spencer, our 14-year old Golden mix. Did we need another dog? Then we attended an adoption event at Subaru of Daytona, and saw Cooper. My wife fell in-love with him immediately. It was her birthday, so I decided to adopt Cooper. I renamed him Mini-Cooper because his is just 16 lbs. and won't get any larger. He is the dickens. He quickly became the "boss" of our home and our other dogs had to adjust to this little firecracker who gets the zoomies at least twice a day. We have never seen a little dog run so fast in and out of the furniture set up like an obstacle course. Mini-Cooper has stolen our hearts and fits into our family as if he was always meant to be here. He loves to snuggle and plays non-stop. He keeps us "seniors" on our toes, that's for sure. Next dog we adopt from Subaru and the Halifax Humane Society, I promise to name Forester.

Campbell Loves Learning - Ann P

Subaru of Daytona this year also adopted six classrooms at Campbell Middle School. This was a labor of love, Ann and Bruce took the Subaru Loves Learning boxes with added items in the boxes. Ann met with Mrs. Matthews, the Principal, to see what the teachers needed. Ann and Bruce then had the opportunity to give the boxes to the teachers a few days before they started classes. We even got a thank you note from one of the teachers that was so sweet.

Loves handing out Blankets - Ann P

In July 2022, the North and Central Florida Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Subaru of Daytona had the pleasure of delivering blankets to Halifax Health Oncology Center, as part of the Subaru Loves To Care program. These comforting gifts were accompanied by personalized messages of hope written by the customers and staff of Subaru of Daytona. Ann Pintiliano tied the cards of hope to the blankets with a ribbon to make them special. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by the Halifax Health staff who were thrilled to help distribute these comforting gifts to their patients. LLS is proud to partner with Subaru to spread hope, love and warmth to those fighting cancer, across the country and right here in the North and Central Florida community.

Subaru Shelter Animal Adoption Events - Barry K

Subaru and ASPCA -The adoption event was on 10/23, and we had four dogs adopted! The people who adopted were so happy and loved the event. One lady said she had been looking to adopt a dog for quite some time, then she saw Abby at the event and fell in love! In October, Subaru donated $100 per day to cover the adoption fee of 31 dogs! Halifax Humane Society adopted all 31 animals and earned $3100 to cover all adoption fees. We are so thankful to Subaru and Subaru of Daytona for having these special adoption events. Four more dogs found forever homes, and that is priceless.
